A cartoon from a Dutch newspaper showing my uncle, the composer Louis Andriessen (click here for link). The subtitle of the cartoon is "And he just goes on and on..." The books are various of the partitures of his work, with titles like "The Materie" "De Staat" "Facing Death" "Time" "Velocity" and "Mausoleum" He cebrated his 65 birthday last week on the 6th of june. When I was in Holland two years ago, we assisted on of his most beautiful works, the opera "Writings to Vermeer", that he wrote with the English director Peter Greenaway. Happy Birthday !
